In the Press

Four professional animators working, or having worked, in Cumbria will be brought together for the first time when they take part in a panel discussion at Animated Eden.
Taking place at the Rheged centre, at 2PM, the discussion will bring together the following - Russell Peet, a stop motion animator from Grizedale Forest; Cadi Catlow, formerly of Kirkby Stephen's 3 Bear Animations; Carlisle's Louise Kneath, of Cloudscape Studios; and Melissa Rogers, of Signal Film & Media, Barrow-in-Furness.

Daniel James of Daniel James Animations will be bringing the whole cast of his stop motion animation The Piper so you will have the oppertunity to meet the puppets and ask the animator questions to your hearts content after viewing the film.

THE ART OF WALLACE AND GROMIT

Don't miss the Art of Wallace and Gromit exhibition also on in the Rheged Centre all Sunday.

Wallace and Gromit have come to Rheged, bringing with them a fantastic and activity- packed exhibition that reveals the artistry that goes into every scene of their classic animated adventures. You will learn about how Aardman Animations grew from the pet project of two schoolboys into an international, Oscar-winning pioneer in stop-motion animation. You can try your hand at designing your own character, make your own Gromit model using the same clay as the professionals and even try your hand at animation using your smartphone or digital camera! The exhibition features original sets from the Wallace and Gromit films and a large number of reproductions of character sketches, designs and production photos offering a rare insight into how these treasured British animations were made.

Musicians Wanted!

If you are a local musician, and are interested in being involved in Animated Eden, we are looking for several to perform both read and improvised music at the evenning event - a half hour set from 6:30pm on Sunday, 8th September. It will involve live music accompaniment to animation screenings at Penrith Playhouse, in Auction Mart Lane.

This will be lead by Californian composer Arnie Rodriguez.

Arnie is a composer who produces orchestral music for short films, animations, commercials, and dance shows. His musical creations include a new musical based on a children’s book, an opera exploring the complex personality of Pancho Villa, and the score to the short film Dreamweaver, directed by Jesse Vinton.

His choral singing debut was in June, 2009, with choral composer Eric Whitacre at Carnegie Hall, New York.

Please get in touch if you are interested in participating. You will need to be available for a few rehersal sessions a week and a half prior to the event.
